Fixes & Enhancements
Fixes: - Symptom: When AC Power Cycle/Abrupt Power Shutdown operation is performed on the platform with DPU config, PR8 (Device not detected) and PR7 (New Device detected) logs are observed in LC Logs for the DPU device installed on the platform. Note: Boot Synchronization and DPU Trust needs to be enabled on PCIe slot# of the DPU device.
Enhancements: - Enhance BIOS password logging mechanism. - Updated the following: * Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller (iDRAC) HII settings engine to version 5.00.00.17. * Intel processor microcode to version 0x3b9 in the 3rd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors family. - Support the following: * The BIOS change allows for the user's attempts at entering the BIOS via the BIOS setup password to be logged in the Life Cycle Log (LCL). This new change provides three new messages in the LCL, one for a successful log in attempt, one for an unsuccessful log in attempt, and a last message for when the maximum number of log in attempts are exceeded. The exact messages are the following: - UEFI0435: "Successfully logged in to the BIOS Setup using the password." - UEFI0436: "Unable to log in to the BIOS Setup because an invalid password is entered." - UEFI0437: "The maximum number of attempts to log in to BIOS Setup by using an incorrect or invalid password is reached. The system has stopped responding." * This product release contains security updates. Once available, information will be accessible on the Dell Security Advisories and Notices website.
Dell Technologies highly recommends applying this important update as soon as possible. The update contains critical bug fixes and changes to improve functionality, reliability, and stability of your Dell system. It may also include security fixes and other feature enhancements.

- Please make sure the BIOS has been updated to 1.7.4 (or newer revision) before you update the iDRAC firmware to Rev. 6.00.30.00 (or newer revision) to avoid an issue, the system would halt at an early boot during BIOS-iDRAC handshake while displaying the message "initializing data processing unit". This issue may occur after AC power cycle or while updating a CPLD firmware.
- After the implementation of a security enhancement, BIOS version 1.9.2 made the SGX sealed data inaccessible, preventing access by older BIOS. As a result, it is not advisable to downgrade the BIOS on an Intel SGX-enabled system to a previous version. Intel Software Guard Extensions Data Center Attestation Primitives (Intel SGX DCAP) and Intel Software Guard Extensions Provisioning Certification Service (Intel SGX PCS) users must update their BIOS to version 1.9.2 or newer if they plan to verify collateral with the Intel IAS-LIV enforcement server after January 17, 2023.
- Disabling the CPU Physical Address Limit option from the BIOS setup menu enables 5-level paging. However, enabling the CPU Physical Address Limit option may cause the operating system to stop at the driver verifier DMA violation test with a blue screen error when booting from an operating system that does not support 5-level paging, such as Microsoft Windows Server 2019, Microsoft Windows Server 2016 and so on.
- When updating the BIOS for the first time from version 1.4.4 or earlier versions to a later version, the Correctable Error Logging (CEL) option is Disabled by default.
