Fixes & Enhancements
Fixes:
- Fixed a PXE boot issue on Intel OCP card under legacy boot mode.
- Fixed a BIOS downgrade issue when version from v2.6.5 or v2.7.5 to v1.x.x.
Enhancements:
- Updated the followings:
* Intel processor and memory reference codes to IPU 2025.4 OOB
* Intel processor microcode to version 0x652 in the 4th Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors Family.
* Intel processor microcode to version 0x410 in the Intel Xeon CPU Max Series.
* Intel processor microcode to version 0x2C0 in the 5th Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors Family.
- Added the following Secure Boot Certificates to the Standard Secure Boot Policy:
* Microsoft Corporation KEK 2K CA 2023
* Microsoft Option ROM UEFI CA 2023
* Microsoft UEFI CA 2023
* Windows UEFI CA 2023
Important Information
- For Precision 7960 Rack, BIOS contains the new 2023 Secure Boot Certificates from version 2.8.3.
- Since 2.8.2 release modifies the Secure Boot Certificates, the following message may appear once on the boot following the BIOS update: "UEFI0074: The Secure Boot policy has been modified since the last time the system was started." The message will appear in both the BIOS screen and the Lifecycle Controller Log. No action is necessary; this informational event is expected since the Certificates are updated by the BIOS update.
- For PowerEdge R660, R760, and R760xa servers, if you update BIOS from v2.4.4 or earlier to v2.5.4, you could experience a PCI bus number shifts symptom. If your applications/script requires a fixed PCI bus number, please skip BIOS version v2.5.4.
- For PowerEdge R760 running BIOS v2.4.4 or later, if you are using the 24 x 2.5" NVMe BP, it is necessary to update BP firmware to versions 3.32 or newer. For more information, refer to this link: PowerEdge 16G: 24x2.5" NVMe switch backplane upstream link showing PCIe Gen4 | Dell US
- BIOS v2.3.5 optimizes the naming of certain PCIe cards (e.g., some NIC, channel card) to display partition number. Due to the naming change, it's expected to observe one-time PR7/PR8 message in LC log on system containing these PCIe cards, after updating BIOS to this version. (Note: PR7 - New device detected / PR8 - Device not detected)
- Please use DUP file to update BIOS in OS or iDRAC GUI if Intel Xeon CPU Max Series is installed on the system. The BIOS update cannot be performed using .efi utility due to a CPU limitation.
