It is recommended to use the Dell Lifecycle Controller to update the firmware using a local or Dell-based firmware repository.
Dell's Lifecycle Controller is an advanced embedded systems management technology that enables remote server management.

To enter the Lifecycle Controller, press during boot.

Before you start the updates, please make sure a network connection is set up if you want to use an online method of updating (HTTPS or Network share).

To update the firmware via Lifecycle Controller:

1) Start Lifecycle Controller by pressing at system start.
2) In the left pane, click Firmware Update.
3) In the right pane, click Launch Firmware Update.
4) Select any one of these update repositories: Network Share (CIFS, NFS, or HTTP), or FTP Server, Local Drive (CD, DVD, or USB), and click Next. The Enter Access Details page is displayed.
5) Type or select the appropriate data.
6) Click Next. The Select Updates page is displayed with the catalog file, catalog version, and component names for which the updates are available.
7) Select the components that require an update, and then click Apply. The update process is initiated, and the firmware update is completed. 8) After a restart, the system is ready to use.
