This package contains the Dell system BIOS update. BIOS is a firmware that is embedded on a small memory chip on the system board. It controls the keyboard, monitor, disk drives, and other devices. This update addresses the Intel security advisories INTEL-SA-00223 and INTEL-SA-00213. A security advisory is a statement when a product is impacted by a security vulnerability and a remedy is available.
This file format consists of a BIOS executable file. The Universal (Windows/MS DOS) format can be used to install from any Windows or MS DOS environment.
To ensure the integrity of your download, please verify the checksum value.
- Firmware updates to address security advisories INTEL-SA-00233(CVE-2018-12126,CVE-2018-12127,CVE-2018-12130 and CVE-2019-11091). - Firmware updates to address security advisory INTEL-SA-00213 (CVE-2019-0090, CVE-2019-0086, CVE-2019-0091, CVE-2019-0093 and CVE-2019-0098). - Fixed the issue where the operating system prompts for BitLocker Recovery key while booting. - Removed the Pre-Boot Intel RST Manager Optimized Defaults option.

1. Once updated, BIOS cannot be downgraded to any version before 1.6.1. 2. When upgrading the BIOS from an older version (1.6.1 or early version) to this version, the BIOS updates twice automatically for adding the BIOSConnect feature. The second update happens after the system restarts.
The following notes apply to all BIOS installation methods:
Note 1: Before updating the BIOS, ensure that you suspend BitLocker encryption on a BitLocker-enabled system. If it is not enabled on your system, you can ignore this step. For information about how to disable BitLocker, see How to Enable or Disable BitLocker with TPM in Windows at support.dell.com. Note 2: Do not turn off the power or interrupt the BIOS update process during the update.
