Fixes & Enhancements
Fixes: -Fixed an isolated issue where manually run controller self-diagnostics would trigger Event 13 (Controller cache discarded due to firmware version incompatibility) on the subsequent reboot.
Enhancements: -Enhanced Background Initialization (BGI) and Consistency Check (CC) progress to reduce performance impact when progress is saved (checkpointed). Previous behavior: BGI/CC progress was saved to disk every 5 minutes, this disk access triggered I/O to pause and cache flush, causing a latency increase. New behavior (as of 25.5.8.0001): BGI/CC progress was saved to disk every 5 minutes if an operating system/driver is not loaded. Note: H330 controllers will keep background operations paused while in HII, or until an OS is loaded. When the firmware detects a driver loading, BGI/CC progress will be saved every 4 hours. When a graceful shutdown is performed, the firmware will save progress as part of the shutdown procedure. In the event of ungraceful shutdown/power loss progress will resume from the last saved checkpoint. Note: Progress Events remain unchanged and will be observed at the same interval.
Dell Technologies recommends applying this update during your next scheduled update cycle. The update contains changes to maintain overall system health. It ensures that the system software remains current and compatible with other system modules (firmware, BIOS, drivers, and software) and may include other new features.
