Install Instructions
========================
This is a self-extracting package of the Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 device
driver installation package for PERC 4e/Di, PERC4e/Si and PERC 4e/DC. It can
be installed from floppy, USB key, or CD/DVD-ROM.
To build the installation media, execute the package and direct its output
to the appropriate empty, formatted media.
Installing the Driver During Operating System Installation
--------------------------------------------------------------
1. Boot the system using the Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 CD.
2. When propmpted to choose the installation location, select "Load Driver"
3. Select 'Browse' and navigate to the location where you extracted the driver files.
4. A list of applicable PERC controllers appears.
5. Select the right driver for the installed controller and click on "Next" button to load
the driver.
6. Continue the installation process as usual.
Installing a Windows 2008 R2 Driver When Adding a New RAID Controller
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Perform the following steps to configure the driver when you add the RAID
controller to a system that already has Windows installed.
1. Power down the system.
2. Install the new RAID controller in the system.
Refer to Hardware Installation for detailed instructions on installing and
cabling the RAID controller in the system.
3. Power on the system.
The Windows operating system should detect the new controller and display a
message to inform the user that the driver was not automatically installed.
4. The Server Manager screen pops up and displays the detected hardware device.
5. Right-click the new device and select 'Update Driver SWoftware'.
6. On the Update Driver Software screen, select 'Browse my computer for driver software'.
The browse dialog appears.
7. Browse to the location where tyou extracted the driver files and click 'Next'.
8. Windows should install the drivers, followed by a message indicating the installation
was successful.
9. Click 'Close' to finish the installation.
Driver Update using Dell Update Package (DUP)
--------------------------------------------------
A Dell Update Package (DUP) is a self-contained executable in a standard
Dell package format and each Update Package is designed to update a single
component on your system.
DUP Download
------------
1. Click the Download Now link to download the file.
2. When the File Download window appears, click Save to save the file to
your hard drive.
Driver Update
-------------
1. Browse to the location where you downloaded the file and double-click
the new file.
2. Read over the release information presented in the dialog window.
3. Download and install any prerequisites identified in the dialog window
before proceeding.
4. Click the Install button.
5. Follow the remaining prompts to perform the update.
