This release provides continued code optimization to improve stability & performance. This release contains BIOS firmware version 1.2.11 for Dell EMC Server PowerEdge R740/R740xd/R640/R940/7920R.

- Mitigated the security vulnerability CVE-2017-5706 (http://www.cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=2017-5706 ) details anticipated to be published November 20, 2017.
- Mitigated the security vulnerability CVE-2017-5709 (http://www.cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvename.cgi?name=2017-5709 ) details anticipated to be published November 20, 2017.

Enhancements
- Added support for updating the NVDIMM-N firmware version.
- Updated the Intel Trusted Execution Technology (Intel TXT) BIOS Authenticated Code Module (ACM) to version 1.3.3.
- Updated the Intel Processor and Memory Reference Code to PLR2.
- Updated the Intel Xeon Processor Scalable Family Processor Microcode to version 0x2C.
- In the Performance System Profile, the default attribute of C-States is changed to Disabled.

Dell EMC Update Package Instructions for EFI
Download
1. Click the "Download Now" link to download the file.
2. If the Export Compliance Disclaimer window appears, click the "I agree" link if you accept the agreement.
3. When the File Download window appears, click "Save" to save the file to your hard drive.
Installation
You can update the BIOS using a UEFI shell bootable media, such as a USB key.
1. Copy the file to the bootable device with UEFI shell.
2. Boot the system to UEFI shell by using the bootable device.
3. Run the executable (.efi) under the UEFI shell. Follow the instructions provided by the flash utility.

You can also load this executable directly from BIOS Boot Manager without a UEFI shell bootable media.
1. Copy the file to a USB device
2. Plug in the USB device and press F11 during POST to enter BIOS Boot Manager
3. Navigate to the System Utilities menu and select BIOS Update File Explorer
4. Select the USB device and navigate through the directory contents to find the executable (.efi)
5. Launch the executable and follow the instructions provided by the flash utility.

4. Run the update by executing "./[model]_BIOS_LX_[version].BIN" from the shell.
5. Follow the remaining prompts to perform the update.
