The Dell AX510 and AX510PA are soundbars that attach to the bottom of certain Dell monitors. There are two variants of the AX510 soundbar:

  1. AX510 (Without a Power Adapter): For monitors that can power the soundbar directly by a DC out port connection on the monitor (Figure 1).

  2. AX510PA (With a Power Adapter): For monitors that do not have a DC out port connection. A paired AC adapter is provided to power the soundbar (Figure 2).

Connecting the Soundbar

The following instructions can be used to install the soundbar on a Dell compatible monitor.

  1. Attach the soundbar to the monitor by placing the corresponding notches on the soundbar and the monitor (as shown by the arrows). Slide in the direction of the arrows until a click is heard (Figure 3).

  2. Connect the audio in cable from the soundbar to your computer (Figure 4).

  3. Connect the AC adapter to your soundbar (Figure 5).
    (Method A is for the AX510. Method B is for the AX510PA.)

Troubleshooting

The following information can be used to troubleshoot various issues with the AX510 and AX510PA soundbar.

Symptom What You May Experience Possible Solution
No Sound No power to the soundbar and the power light is off.
  • Turn the power to On, on the soundbar. Check if the power light (white LED) on the front of the soundbar is illuminated.
  • Confirm that the power cable from the soundbar is plugged into the power adapter. The power adapter is plugged into a known good electrical outlet.
No Sound Soundbar has power, and the power light is on.
  • Plug the audio line in cable into the computer's audio out jack.
  • Set all Windows volume controls to their maximum.
  • Play some audio on the computer.
  • Turn the volume to a higher level by turning the volume knob clockwise on the soundbar.
  • Clean and reseat the audio line in plug.
  • Test the soundbar with a different audio source.
  • Go to the control panel of the computer and click on Sound. Ensure that the computer built in audio or the sound card is enabled. Try different ports, reinstall the audio drivers, or restart the computer. Try another known working speaker.

  • Clear any obstructions between the soundbar and yourself.
  • Confirm that the audio line in plug is inserted into the jack of the sound card.
  • Set all Windows volume controls to their midpoints.

  • Troubleshoot the computer's sound card.
  • Test the soundbar using another audio source.
  • Ensure that the soundbar is seated properly on the monitor.
  • Ensure that no loose objects are touching the soundbar.

  • Set all Windows audio balance controls (L R) to their midpoints.
  • Clean and reseat the audio line in plug.
  • Troubleshoot the computer's sound card.
  • Test the soundbar using another audio source.
Low Volume Volume is too low.
  • Clear any obstructions between the soundbar yourself.
  • Turn the volume to a higher level by turning the volume knob clockwise on the soundbar.
  • Set all Windows volume controls to their maximum.
  • Increase the volume of the audio source.
