PowerEdge: Broadcom 5741x/57454/5750x Firmware update issue - SUP0550 error

Symptômes

Network controller firmware for Broadcom NetXtreme-E devices may fail to update firmware and display a "SUP0550" error in the Lifecycle (LCC) logs.

This issue can also be present on 13G, 14G, 15G, and 16G rack and tower servers and affect additional Broadcom NetXtreme-E adapters.

LCC Log: 
 

2023-06-23 14:03:56 858 SUP0550 Unable to update the firmware of the component Broadcom BCM57504 25G KR Quad Port Fab AB Mezz to version 22.00.07.60 because the update operation was abruptly stopped. The reason for abrupt stoppage: Processing error.

Cause

Per Broadcom NIC release notes, it is not possible to upgrade 5741x/57454/5750x adapters from firmware version 21.85.21.91, or earlier, to 22.00.x.y, or later, through iDRAC, or Lifecycle Controller.

Résolution

Workaround: Firmware release 21.85.21.92 provides an upgrade path to the latest firmware using iDRAC, or Lifecycle Controller. To upgrade to 22.00.x.y, or later, through iDRAC, or Lifecycle Controller, first upgrade to 21.85.21.92.

Alternative: upgrade to the 22.00.x.y firmware by running the firmware DUP from within a supported operating system.
