Symptoms
Alert Messages:
The rebalance operation has been manually disabled for all Device Groups in the Protection Domain (pd_name, ID: <PD ID>).
The rebuild operation has been manually disabled for all Device Groups in the Protection Domain (pd_name, ID: <PD ID>).
Impact
- Rebalance Disabled: The system may become unbalanced, leading to uneven data distribution and potential performance degradation.
- Rebuild Disabled: The system is not protected against further failures, increasing the risk of data unavailability.
Cause
The Rebalance/Rebuild operations could be manually disabled by support or administrators during diagnostics or maintenance. If not re-enabled afterward, the system raises an alert to prompt corrective action.
Resolution
Re-enable Rebalance (if disabled)
To re-enable rebalance operations:
scli --set_rebalance_mode --protection_domain_name <PD NAME> --enable rebalance
Re-enable Rebuild (if disabled)
To re-enable rebuild operations:
scli --set_rebuild_mode --protection_domain_name <PD NAME> --enable rebuild
