Symptoms
Backup applications are not able to read or write backups.
Cause
When a share is exported over both NFS and CIFS protocols, the applications running on the clients may attempt to concurrently read or write to the same file.
This leads to unexpected results since the locking models and ACL's used by these protocols are different.

Recommendation
Do not share exports between different protocols.
