Symptoms

Newly installed 64G line card shows message -

%F64_MAC_USD-SLOT1-4-OLD_MODULE_SERDES_FIRMWARE: Current FC SerDes firmware version 21072002 on module 1 does not support 64G links. Reload module 1 to update to the latest SerDes firmware version. 

NX-OS version is 9.4.2a

Line card model is DS-X9748-3072K9

Cause

This message is an informational to alert that the Serdes ASIC was not updated.
To set to the updated firmware, a “RELOAD” of the line cards is required to run the 64G speed.

Resolution

Perform the reboot in a maintenance window to be able to run at up to the maximum speed.

To reload a line card in a Cisco MDS switch, use the command "reload module <module-number>" in EXEC mode to power-cycle the specified module.

Switch# reload module 1
