Problem Description:

  • Exact problem statement
  • Exact error message or screenshot showing the issue
  • Is this a backup or a restore issue?
  • When did the issue start?
  • Is this a new setup or previously working?
  • Frequency (intermittent or consistent)

NetWorker Server Information

Collect the following from the NetWorker server:

NetWorker Server Logs

Rendered daemon.raw from the time of failure

NetWorker Client (MySQL Host) Information

  • OS version
  • NetWorker Server Version and build number.
  • NetWorker: Methods for Identifying NetWorker Software version
  • NMDA Version: /nsr/apps/config/nmda_mysql_<SID>.cfg
  • Zipped: /nsr/apps/config/logs
  • Copy of the /etc/hosts file
  • Client daemon.raw from the same failure window: nsr_render_log /nsr/logs/daemon.raw > /nsr/logs/daemon.log 2<&1 
    • Collect both the rendered .log and unrendered .raw file.

MySQL‑Specific Context

  • MySQL version
  • MySQL deployment type: (standalone, replication)
  • MySQL Enterprise Backup (MEB) version
  • Cluster (InnoDB Cluster, so on)
  • MySQL data directory location
  • Copy of /etc/my.cnf
  • Any recent MySQL upgrades or configuration changes
  • Error log (instance.err)

Cluster Information (If Applicable)

If the MySQL host is part of a clustered environment, collect:

  • Cluster type: OS clustering (Pacemaker, Veritas, Microsoft Failover)
  • MySQL logical clusters
    • Virtual hostnames that are involved
    • Which node ran the backup when the failure occurred?
    • Was a failover involved?
  • Output of cluster status command (if available)


Backup Target and Storage Configuration

  • When the error indicates a save/recover session issue, collect:
  • Device and Storage Type: (Data Domain, Virtual Tape Library (VTL), Physical Tape, Cloud Tier, and so forth.)
