Symptoms

NetWorker Snapshot Manager (NSM) snapvx backups fail with the following error message:

Error relinking snapvx snapshot to target: Unable to perform action Link on SnapVX snapshot, error SYMAPI_C_ACCESS_DENIED

Cause

The VMAX administrator has applied security settings using symacl and symauth to the Storage groups in VMAX used by NSM Application and data mover. This is not supported by NSM.

Resolution

Remove the security settings applied to the VMAX storage groups used by NSM Application and DataMover hosts.
