Symptoms

SAP backup fails with this error:

Flat file backup using orasid userid fails with permissions error

Error: backint: fullpath(/oracle/SID/112_64/dbs/initSID.ora): cannot determine current directory
Error: save: Unable to get current working directory; Permission denied

 

Cause

Incorrect file permissions on /oracle at the root level.

 

Resolution

Use the chmod 755 /oracle command to address the permission issue.
