Symptoms
The environment uses the PowerProtect Data Manager Generic Application Agent to protect a Sybase database. The PowerProtect Data Manager appliance runs version 19.22 or 20.1. An asset-level backup initiated through PowerProtect Data Manager fails with a Sybase connection failure:
ct_connect(): protocol specific layer: external error: The attempt to connect to the server failed.ABG0023: Skipped the backup... because the data is unavailable for backup. The backup is skipped because there is no data for backup since the previous backup.Cause
A code defect in PowerProtect Data Manager versions 19.22 and 20.1 prevents the asset-level credentials from being correctly passed to the Sybase backup script during an asset-level backup operation.
Resolution
The issue has been resolved in the PowerProtect release 20.2.0.0-14. Install the latest PowerProtect Data Manager release to resolve the symptom. The PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance and Generic Application Agent must both be upgraded in the environment.
