Als een VxRail een datastore op Data Domain (DD) aanvraagt, is dit een NFS-shareaanvraag (Network File System).

Zodra de NFS-share is gemaakt op DD, kan deze vervolgens worden gekoppeld aan de Elastic Sky X (ESX). VxRail kan het vervolgens gebruiken om virtuele machines (VM's) of VM-schijfbestanden uit andere datastores te verplaatsen.

Additional Information

  • VMware ondersteunt zowel VMFS (Virtual Machine File System) als NFS (Network File System) voor datastores.
  • Beide datastores ondersteunen vMotion, een functie om VM's van de ene host naar de andere te verplaatsen.
  • Er is weinig verschil tussen VMFS en NFS:
    • NFS is op bestandsniveau 
    • VMFS is een bestand op blokniveau
