NetWorker: Warning "Filesystem containing file index for client is getting full"

Summary: This warning message appears when the file system where the index directory resides has less than 2% space left.

Symptoms

The following type of warning message appears in the daemon.raw:

NetWorker index: (warning) Filesystem containing file index for client 'nw-client' is getting full

Similar alerts are seen in the "Alerts" window of the NetWorker Management Console (NMC).

The indexes are located on a drive that has a size of, for example, 100 GB that still has 2 GB of free disk space, on a NetWorker Server machine, which is good enough for most save set indexing operations.

Cause

These warning messages are sent when the available free space goes under 2% of the total size of the disk drive for where the index directory resides.

Resolution

To stop receiving this type of warning message, increase the size of the partition where NetWorker is installed.
