Symptoms

Storage M&R (VPLEX) missing Director Port Performance Counters after upgrade.

  • Storage M&R (VPLEX) missing Director Port Performance Counters after upgrade to SRM 4.2 or SRM 4.2.1.
  • ViPR SRM Dell VPLEX Solution pack missing Director Port Performance Counters after upgrade to SRM 4.2 or SRM 4.2.1

Cause

In VPLEX, every director has a different header format, since Dell optimized reading headers, either A or B ports performance goes missing.

Resolution

To address this issue, revert the optimization pertaining to reading the header format.
Steps to revert the optimization:

  1. Stop VPLEX Collector service
  2. Rename file get-director-data.py to get-director-data.py-orig on VPLEX Collector Host in location /opt/APG/Collecting/Stream-Collector/emc-vplex/conf/
  3. Copy script get-director-data.py to VPLEX Collector Host to location /opt/APG/Collecting/Stream-Collector/emc-vplex/conf/
  4. Rename file get-director-data.py to get-director-data.py-orig on VPLEX Cluster Host in location /home/service/
  5. Copy script get-director-data.py to VPLEX Cluster Host to location /home/service/
  6. Copy the script get-director-data.py on all VPLEX cluster hosts.
  7. Copy the script get-director-data.py on all VPLEX Collector Hosts.
  8. Start VPLEX Collector service

 

Note: If the discovery User in SRM is not "service," then the Script Path on the VPLEX Clusters is /home/<User>
