NetWorker: How to prepare Data Domain configured Devices for Data Domain IP change

When changing the IP address of a Data Domain, follow these steps in NetWorker to ensure continued communications:
 

  1. Log in to the NetWorker Management Console (NMC), and go to the Devices->Devices tab. For each device associated with the Data Domain, perform the following:
    1. Open the device properties and ensure that the Auto media management option is cleared. If this option is enabled, the device automatically attempts to mount when it is unmounted.
    2. Right-click the device and select Unmount.
    3. Right-click the device and select Enable/Disable.
  2. Once the Data Domain IP is changed and Domain Name System (DNS), or hosts file entry, is updated to reflect the change. Use the nsrports command to validate name resolution and connectivity to the new IP address:
nsrports -t DD_HOSTNAME -p 3009

  1. From the NMC, go to the properties of each device that is associated with the Data Domain and update or reenter the DD Boost user password from the Configuration tab.
  2. Reenable and mount DD devices. Select the Enable/Disable option again, then select Mount.
  3. Test backup and restore.
