PowerEdge: Intel IPU Fails to Ping Outside Local Network

Symptoms

Following the initial setup of the Acceleration Compute Complex (ACC), the Intel IPU is unable to communicate to external networks beyond its local network.

Note: The ACC serves as the embedded operating system for the Intel IPU.

Cause

A static gateway IP address is configured on the ACC kernel during the boot process from the Integrated Management Complex (IMC). This configuration is part of the setup for static IP addresses for both ACC and IMC to facilitate SSH communication.
This feature was introduced in ACC version 1.6.0. If the IPU is downgraded to version 1.2.0, the static IP configuration persists due to its nature as a persistent setting.

Resolution

This issue is addressed in IPU software release 1.7.0. Update to the latest version to resolve it.

As a temporary solution, add a line in /etc/rc.local to remove the 192.168.0.x gateway, allowing the ACC operating system to use a different gateway persistently.
