Symptoms

ConnectEMC HTTPS transport is failing with "unable to set a private key file." /opt/connectemc/logs/ConnectEMC_HTTP.log shows the following:

Cause

The certificate and key configuration for the HTTPS transport is incorrect.

Resolution

Reconfigure the ConnectEMC transport settings using the Avamar Administrator Console to

  1. Change to Email if HTTPS transport is not the prefer option. 
  2. Fix the HTTPS transport configuration
    1. For HTTPS transport, if using the default certificates, set the HTTPS settings to the following:

      Avmar UI HTTPS settings 
NOTE: The certificate file and key referenced here are stored on the Avamar system in the /opt/connectemc/certs/ directory. For correct operation, these files and key must move one level up to /opt/connectemc/. In this situation, the private‑key passphrase is 'Default'.

Additional Information

Dell Connectivity is the replacement of ConnectEMC, when upgrading to the Avamar 19.10. ConnectEMC is removed, and the existing connectivity disconnects. Dell Connectivity is also known as Embedded Service Enabler (ESE).
