SourceOne Email Management: Exchange Journal Activities Not Terminating Properly
Summary: Exchange Journal activities are not terminating correctly, they enter into a loop when trying to close the Provider connection.
Symptoms
Exchange Journal activities are not terminating correctly and enter into a loop when trying to close the Provider connection.
After failing to terminate the Journal Activity, SourceOne enters into a loop showing job statistics as: Dispatcher visited to pickup values: ItemsProcessed: 0, Failed: 0 and Dups: 0
In the ExJBJournal.log, the following information is seen:
CloseInputProvider() before
SourceOne tries to release the connection with Outlook but it cannot, therefore the activity does not terminate.
Cause
The issue found is related to Outlook not being able to release the connection with SourceOne.
The environment facing these issues is using Outlook 2016 (16.0.4266.1003) 32-bit. The issue being seen in the logs is related with the Outlook provider.

Resolution
In order to address the issue, Outlook must be updated to a minimum, the released version listed on the March 05, 2019.
