Goals

The successful completion of an RCM upgrade to 5.0.11 or 6.0.6 with the inclusion of the VCE4150 addendum patch.

Facts

Starting RCM is 4.5.x or 4.8.x and the target RCM is 5.0.11 or higher for the inclusion of the VCE4150 addendum patch ESXi 5.5 Update 3 Express Patch 10 (Build 3568722)

OR

Starting RCM is 4.5.x, 4.8.x or 5.0.x and the target RCM is 6.0.6 or higher for the inclusion of the VCE4150 addendum patch ESXi 6.0 Update 1, Express Patch 5 (Build 3568940)

Solution

  1. Per the standard upgrade process, download the target RCM VMware ISO file from the VCE Download Center target RCM folder.

  2. Per the addendum requirements, download the target VMware offline bundle from the VCE Download Center addendum folder.

  3. Create a new VUM baseline specific to the addendum package downloaded.

  4. Perform the upgrade per the documented upgrade processes.

  5. Verify the first ESXi host upgrade to the target RCM code.

  6. Apply and remediate the addendum specific baseline to the newly upgraded host.

  7. Verify the first ESXi host upgrade to the target addendum code.

  8. Repeat for any additional hosts in the VCE System.
