Symptoms

After updating the 17G AMD BIOS to version 1.4.1 or the 17G Intel BIOS to version 1.6.4,

The Max Speed field in the SMBIOS Processor Information (Type 4) table reflects a value inconsistent with the CPU specification.

For example, 17G AMD R6715 with 9015

Cause

Dell BIOS was updated to comply with the industry SMBIOS specification:

https://www.dmtf.org/sites/default/files/standards/documents/DSP0134_3.9.0.pdfThis hyperlink is taking you to a website outside of Dell Technologies.

The Max Speed field in Processor Information (Type 4) represents the maximum capability of the system, not the processor's own rated turbo frequency.

As a result, the value may differ from what is published in the CPU datasheet.

The same value is also reflected in iDRAC → Hardware Inventory → CPU → MaxClockSpeed.

Resolution

This is expected behavior.
