Symptoms
- Library contains cartridges which correctly show barcodes along with corresponding volume fields, but pool stays perpetually in 'refreshing' state
- Reset / Inventory does not correct the volumes
- Barcode Matching set for library
Cause
Code defect - NWREE-29885 which is under investigation.
Resolution
Generally the volumes found in this state are not being correctly presented as being 'unlabeled' / not in media database, and are safe to relabel. To check the volume label first:
- Confirm the volume is not in the media database with mminfo:
mminfo -a volid, pool -q barcode=barcode_in_NMC - Check the soft label by loading the tape without mounting it and performing a diagnostic check:
nsrmm -pv -f "name_of_device_in_NetWorker"
Once satisfied the volume has no viable data, relabel normally.
Note that even if there is a NetWorker label on the volume, NetWorker will prompt to confirm you wish to overwrite (provided the override tickbox is not selected), if the volume is labeled and the record does not reflect it being expired.
