Avamar: Unable to connect to an Avamar Node as root due to a potential file system Issue

Symptoms
It is not possible to connect to an Avamar data node as root or connect to it using SSH.
Commands that are issued from the Avamar Utility Node to the node (with SSH keys loaded), are not responsive.
When a keyboard and monitor is connected directly to the node to check the condition of the operating system, output similar to the following is seen:
When switching to the root user:
su - root
-bash: /bin/su: Input/output error
Running the "ls -l" command to get a listing of /data01/cur on the affected data node:

The root cause is unknown, but it is suspected that the file system is corrupted.
Results of connecting to the node can vary depending on the status of the operating system. It may not be possible to log in, or other errors may appear.

Resolution
Contact your Dell Support provider to run a file system check, and if necessary, rebuild the node.
