Instructions

  1. When a disk firmware upgrade in the GUI is triggered, every disk will request upgrade permission from Raid.
  2. If the Raid Group (RG) is not in a degraded status, the upgrade will be performed. Otherwise, the upgrade request will be denied.
  3. The upgrade process operates on multiple drives (but only one drive max per RAID group). The upgrade process also upgrades unused drives in parallel.
  4. The disk firmware upgrade within the same RG is executed one by one;  But different RGs can perform the upgrade in parallel.
  5. The order of disks being upgraded within the same RG follows the order of their Physical Disk Object's (PDO).
  6. Hot spare drives can run the firmware upgrade in parallel.
  7. One type of disk would be upgraded first before it moves on to another type of disk.
  8. The limitation of concurrent disk upgrade operations is not found in the code.
