Instructions
We do not support installing any third-party software on PPDM, it is governed by Dell legal agreement with customer.
So anti-virus software is also not supported.
Then how has Dell hardened down the PPDM to prevent a compromise?
PPDM OVA is signed and got anti-virus and malware scan before every release, Telnet service, and many other services are blocked, firewall is implemented to block ports ssh access limited to admin (no root ssh access) and so on.
NESSUS and Qualys scans run on regular base and OS were updated when new issues identified by scans.
To further harden OS and get federal certification, we are planning to implement complete STIG hardening in the future releases.
