PowerFlex 3.X: The Gateway Or Presentation Server May Report Connection Issues To Port -1

Scenario

When using an IPv6 network between the MDM and either the Presentation server or the Gateway, they may fail to reconnect after a network failure.
The PowerFlex Gateway returns an HTTP 500 error using REST API.

Symptoms

You may see the Trying to reconnect to port -1 in the Presentation server logs:

You may see a message in the Gateway logs that the port is out of range:

java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: port out of range:-1

Impact

Excess log entries are seen. The server can reconnect after several retries.

Root Cause

Development has identified an issue in the PowerFlex Gateway and Presentation server, that mistakenly tries to connect to port "-1."  This has only been seen when IPV6 is enabled.

Workaround

Upgrade to PowerFlex 3.5.1 or later for the Gateway.

Upgrade to PowerFlex 3.6 or later for the Presentation server.

PowerFlex 3.5.0, VxFlex 3.0.x

Gateway - PowerFlex 3.5.1

Presentation Server - PowerFlex 3.6
