Symptoms
The error in the Avamar logs can be exposed in the logs of a file system backup by creating an avtar.cmd file in the C:\Program Files\avs\var folder. Create or edit the file avtar.cmd using Notepad as administrator and add the below two flags:
--debug=true
--x25=-1
Confirm that the .txt does not get automatically added by the notepad example (avtar.cmd.txt). Do this by showing file name extensions using Windows file explorer.
Delete the avtar.cmd file after log collection.

The Intrusion Detection System (IDS) and Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) on Cisco Meraki MX appliances running 18.107.5, 18.107.8, 18.207 are intermittently blocking Data Domain traffic on port 111. Intermittently blocking Data Domain traffic on port 111 started with rule update 20240205-1419 and later. It does not affect all appliances equally and can be intermittent even on appliances displaying the issue.
Resolution
Engage Cisco Support to remediate or disable the rule.
The current workaround is to disable or allow rule IDs 1-41185 SunRPC Portmap GETPORT request detected, and 106-4 RPC_INCOMPLETE_SEGMENT.
