PowerFlex: Unable to change OS password VXFM00685 VXFM00445
Summary: Changing the OS Admin credential in PowerFlex Manager does not update the node’s root password, preventing connection and leading to invalid‑credential, unchanged‑password, SSH and discovery errors. ...
Symptoms
Errors below are shown in the PowerFlex Manager UI:
- Invalid credentials request, old credentials, and new credentials are the same or unchanged. (VXFM00685)
- Could not be connected through SSH due to an unexpected SSH connection error. (VXFM00445)
Deployment job logs show error:
- Error discovering, jobId=<job-ID>
- Discovery by IP range failed for device: serviceTag *** cannot be discovered because Puppet module scaleio was not available or failed to return the device information.
Cause
Changing the password in the existing OS Admin credential does not update the node root password on the node. PowerFlex manager still needs this credential to match the existing root password in order to connect to the node to run the password change command.
Resolution
Follow the PowerFlex Administration guide Updating passwords for nodes section to modify the password for the supported method.
