Avamar: How to Use Goav Client Hyper-V Menu

This feature is supported in GoAV version 1.90 and later.
Download and Install the GoAV tool at Avamar: Goav tool
Once GoAV has been placed on Avamar, go to the directory and make the tool executable.
chmod a+x goav

Client Hyper-V Menu:

Usage:
  goav client hyperv [command]

Available Commands:
  activity       Show Hyper-V jobs from Activity Monitor
  activity-stats Show Hyper-V backup job statistics from Activity Monitor
  backups        List Hyper-V backups for the client(s).
  details        Show Hyper-V backup metadata for the client(s).
  list           List Avamar clients.

Flags:
  -h, --help   help for hyperv

Global Flags:
  -d, --debug                debug output
  -f, --force                Ignore Configuration
  -n, --noheader             Do not display header
  -s, --validate-signature   Validate GoAV digital Signature

Use "goav client hyperv [command] --help" for more information about a command.

Commands Explained:

  • List Avamar clients with Avamar Plug-in for Hyper-V VSS installed: 
./goav client hyperv list --name <Client Name> --domain <Avamar Domain>
Partial names are allowed for <Client Name>.
For example, the below command lists all the clients with 'hv' in its name in /clients Domain:
./goav client hyperv list --name hv --domain /clients
To list one or more clients, matching <Client Name> in all Avamar Domains use --recursive flag.
./goav client hyperv list --name <client name> --recursive
  • List Hyper-V backups for one or more clients: 
./goav client hyperv backups --name <Client Name> --domain <Avamar Domain>
Partial names are allowed for <Client Name>.
To list Hyper-V backups for one or more clients, matching <Client Name> in all Avamar Domains use --recursive flag:
./goav client hyperv backups --name <Client Name> --recursive
To list the latest Hyper-V backup, add the --latest flag.
For example, the below command lists the latest Hyper-V backup for each client (containing 'hv' in the name) in /clients Domain:
./goav client hyperv backups --name hv --domain /clients --latest
  • Show Hyper-V backup metadata for one or more clients:
  • Virtual Machines (VMs) Collection Group Name and its members (VMs)
  • The owner of the VM (Hyper-V Server)
  • VM's disk(s) path and size
  • Backup type (full and or incremental)
     
./goav client hyperv details --name <Client Name> --domain <Avamar Domain> --labelnum <Label Number>
Partial names are allowed for <Client Name>.
If no Backup Label Number is specified (no --labelnum), Hyper-V backup metadata for the latest backup is shown. 
For example, the below command shows Hyper-V backup metadata (latest Hyper-V backup) for all the clients (containing 'hv' in the name) in /clients Domain:
./goav client hyperv details --name hv --domain /clients
  • Show Hyper-V jobs from Activity Monitor for one or more clients:
./goav client hyperv activity --name <Client Name> --domain <Avamar Domain> 
Partial names are allowed for <Client Name>.
For example, the below command shows Hyper-V jobs for all the clients (containing 'hv' in the name) in /clients Domain in Activity Monitor:
./goav client hyperv activity --name hv --domain /clients
  • Show Hyper-V backup job statistics from Activity Monitor for one or more clients:
  • VM's list: selected for backup, failed, excluded
  • Type of the backup (full and or incremental)
./goav client hyperv activity-stats --name <Client Name> --domain <Avamar Domain> --labelnum <Label Number>
Partial names are allowed for <Client Name>.
If no Backup Label Number is specified (no --labelnum), the Hyper-V backup job statistics for all backup jobs (from Activity Monitor) matching --name/--domain criteria is shown. 
 
For example, the below command shows Hyper-V jobs statistics for all the clients (containing 'hv' in the name) in /clients Domain in Activity Monitor:
./goav client hyperv activity-stats --name hv --domain /clients
