PowerStore: Common Event Enabler CAVA Fails when Access List is Enabled

Symptoms

CEE functionality fails when the access list is configured in the registry using IP addresses. As a result, services such as antivirus and event publishing may not operate correctly. CEE debug logs typically show entries referencing the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) being checked against the access list: Debug CAVA | Dell PowerScale: Common Antivirus Agent Solution | Dell Technologies Info Hub

[EMC CEE]: CTransport+::ValidateArgs(): PowerStore BAD AV HEARTBEAT request (server [my-nas.my-domain.tld] event not allowed)

Cause

CEE supports features such as event publishing and antivirus for NAS servers. In earlier releases, CEE expected IP addresses in the registry setting for the access list. This approach was also reflected in the documentation available at the time of this article. However, newer releases require the use of the NAS server’s full name or FQDN in the access list. Using IP addresses in these versions causes CEE functionality to fail.

Resolution

Workaround:
Configure the registry entry for the access list using the NAS server’s FQDN instead of IP addresses.
