Data Domain: How to Apply License when RLC is Enabled

NOTE: To add a Data Domain elicense manually from the Data Domain cli, open the .lic file in notepad or similar, and copy the contents of the .lic txt.

 

Follow the below steps to apply or refresh license on an RLC-enabled Data Domain using CLI:

  1. Log in to the Data Domain CLI system using sysadmin or admin credentials.
  2. Check the #elicense show command output before applying the License.

  1. Check the Retention-Lock status, whether Compliance mode is enabled or not, using the below command:
#system retention-lock compliance status

  1. Run the #elicense update command to update the new license. Provide the security user credentials, and then right click and paste the contents of the .lic txt. Once pasted, click ctrl+d

Enter the content of license file and then press Control-D, or press Control-C to cancel.
  1. Run the command #elicense show all and cross-check whether the new License file has updated and the capacity increased.

The active tier size may be slightly larger than the licensed amount.
 
NOTE: The total capacity was 43.65 TiB before applying the License. The total capacity has been increased to 54.56 TiB after applying the 60TB License.
