Symptoms
Unable to install or upgrade PowerPath for Windows on Windows 2012 R2.
Error message:
Error message:
"One or more devices have driver updates currently in progress. Do not install, upgrade, or uninstall PowerPath until the driver updates are complete."
Cause
Multipath I/O (MPIO) was attempting to upgrade itself using the wrong INF file.
Resolution
Apply recent Windows operating system updates to upgrade MPIO properly.
Alternatively, if the operating system patches are up to date, then the reinstall the MPIO feature from Server Manager.
Once completed, PowerPath successfully upgrades.
