Symptoms

PDM fails to create a recommendation.

/usr/local/avamar/var/log/vcs/deploymanager.log reports Permission denied errors.

Cause

The operating system Security Rollup sets permissions on /usr/local/avamar/var/mc/server_data/prefs/preferences.dtd to 400 instead of 444.

Resolution

  1. Change the permission of preferences.dtd Avamar Utility Node: 
chmod 444 /usr/local/avamar/var/mc/server_data/prefs/preferences.dtd 
  1. Restart the tomcat service:
tomcatctl stop
tomcatctl start
