PowerEdge: 17G servers may stop when exiting ePSA diagnostics

Summary: Users attempting to exit Enhanced Pre-Boot System Assessment (ePSA) diagnostics may encounter a system stop upon selecting the Exit option.

Symptoms

An issue exists wherein a 17th Generation PowerEdge Server may stop when a user selects Exit to leave ePSA diagnostics and reboot. This issue exists with both Intel and AMD equipped servers. There is no functionality impact to ePSA diagnostics.

  • The issue is only encountered upon clicking the Exit option to leave diagnostics and reboot.
  • The issue is only present on servers equipped with iDRAC. Servers equipped with Open Server Manager (OSM) are not affected.

Cause

Root cause investigation is underway.

Resolution

Engineering is aware and advises to reboot the server if this issue is encountered.
Rebooting the server allows it to boot normally. The server does not boot back to ePSA diagnostics or Lifecycle Controller.
