Symptoms

Data Domain systems upgraded to DDOS 8.3.1.40 and DDOS 8.6.1.20 stop reporting to DDMC 8.5.0.0 or DDMC 8.6.0.0.

The DDMC managed-systems begin to report "not-transmitting" after the Data Domain systems are upgraded.

DDMC issues alerts.

The following DDMC errors may be found in messages.engineering.

From sms.info on the DDMC -

Cause

The SOAP protocol was upgraded in DDOS, changing the buffering behavior on TLS/SSL records, resulting in file transfers dropping pre-maturely.  Older versions of DDMC no longer work with newer versions of DDOS due to the file transfers dropping.

Resolution

  • Upgrade the DDMC to the latest LTS version. At publishing, current LTS DDMC 8.6.1.20 corrected the issue for 8.6.1.20 and 8.3.1.40 clients.
  • Deleting each managed-client from the DDMC, following by deleting the trust on the DD may be necessary.
  • Re-adding the managed-client to the DDMC will restore the mutual trust. Below are the recommendations from engineering.

Updated recommendation for 8.9 DDMC -

The following LTS releases are recommended for use with DDMC 8.9:

  • DD 8.6 LTS (8.6.1.20) or higher
