Data Domain: How to Power Off and Power On a Data Domain System

Procedure
Powering Off the System

Gracefully shut down the appliance:
- Log in using SSH and run:
# system poweroff

This command performs an orderly shutdown of all processes and powers off the system.

Administrative privileges are required
- Log in using SSH and run:

Caution:
- Do not use the chassis power switch to power off the system.
- Doing so prevents remote power-on over IPMI and does not perform a clean OS shutdown.
Example:
# system poweroff The system poweroff command shuts down the system and turns off the power. Continue? (yes|no|?) [no]: yes -
Power off external shelves:
- After the controller powers off, turn off expansion shelves (ES20, ES30, DS60):
- ES20: Use power switches.
- ES30/DS60/DS120: Disconnect AC power.
- After the controller powers off, turn off expansion shelves (ES20, ES30, DS60):
Powering On the System

Power on expansion shelves first:
- ES20: Use power switches.
- ES30/ES40/DS60: Plug into AC power.
- Wait approximately 3 minutes after all shelves are powered on.

Power on the controller:
- Press the power button (refer to the Installation and Setup Guide for your model).

Verify system status:
- Confirm that the system has fully booted and DDOS is running:
- Use the system console or SSH login.
- The system is ready when you can log in successfully.
