Sometimes you may see many audio driver options when you view the Dell Drivers & Downloads support page. If you do not know which audio chipset is used on your computer, you may not download the correct driver after reinstalling a clean Windows image (a non-Dell image).

Identifying the audio driver on your Dell laptop
- In the search box on the taskbar, type
Device Managerand then open Device Manager.
- Click View and then select Show hidden devices.
- Find Sound, video and game controllers.
- Right-click the Properties of the High Definition Audio Device, then go to the Details.
- If you have Cirrus Logic High Definition Audio, the Hardware Ids includes the text
&VEN_1013&DEV_8409.
- If you have Realtek High Definition Audio, the Hardware Ids includes the text
&VEN_10EC&DEV_0236
- If you have Cirrus Logic High Definition Audio, the Hardware Ids includes the text
