I certificati Secure Boot vengono utilizzati nell'ambito del processo Secure Boot che aiuta a proteggere il computer dai bootkit, un tipo di malware progettato per infettare il boot loader o il processo di avvio di un cliente, consentendo l'esecuzione di codice dannoso sul computer. Una volta scaduti i certificati, il computer non è più in grado di ottenere gli aggiornamenti per Windows Boot Manager e i componenti Secure Boot.

I clienti Dell dovrebbero iniziare a esaminare i propri asset e processi interni per assicurarsi di essere pronti per l'imminente modifica del certificato Microsoft. Cause
Certificati di avvio protetto Microsoft 2011 in scadenza a partire da giugno 2026.
Resolution
Dell collabora con Microsoft per garantire che i dispositivi Dell siano pronti. Microsoft prevede di iniziare ad aggiornare il database Secure Boot attivo tramite Windows Update a partire dalla seconda metà del 2025. Parallelamente, Dell sta aggiornando i database Secure Boot predefiniti con aggiornamenti del BIOS per contenere i nuovi certificati Microsoft, un impegno iniziato nel 2024.
Nel corso del 2025, Dell aggiungerà il certificato 2023 a tutte le piattaforme idonee. Per i computer non elencati di seguito, ma ancora spediti dalla fabbrica, il BIOS installato in fabbrica viene aggiornato con i nuovi certificati. Per i computer già sul campo, Dell Technologies consiglia di mantenere aggiornati i BIOS del computer durante questo periodo per garantire che il certificato 2023 sia nel database Secure Boot predefinito.
