Symptoms

 

When a lower wattage Type-C adapter is plugged in, the OS displays a slow charge warning message, and the battery icon shows a triangle warning symbol. This behavior is expected. However, the battery icon maintains its previous status after connecting a standard barrel adapter.

Affected Platforms:

  • Alienware 16 Area-51 AA16250
  • Alienware 18 Area-51 AA18250

 

Cause

 

BIOS Embedded Controller (EC) does not refresh the power status.

 

Resolution

 

There is no functional impact. Unplug the Type-C adapter when connecting a barrel adapter.
