What is DCSD?

DCSD is a BIOS-level feature that ensures automatic deployment and persistence of essential support software, such as SA PC Analytics, on Dell computers. It uses the DCSD Service and Sub-Agent to install critical components even after removal or operating system reimaging. It maintains continuous support readiness without user intervention.

Cause

The latest BIOS updates for eligible Dell computers introduces the DCSD module in BIOS. The associated driver for this module is designed to download and install after the BIOS update through automatic updates. If automatic updates is not enabled, the driver is not available and the module shows up in Windows Device Manager as Unknown Device.

Resolution

To verify that the DCSD module is the cause of the yellow bang and Unknown Device entry, right click on the Unknow Device, select Properties, go to Details tab to see if the Value section contains the following entry:
ACPI\DELL0033\2&DABA3FF&0

There are two options to resolve this issue.

  1. Updating the DCSD to version 1.0.0 or later on the computer resolves the issue. To download and install the DCSD, refer to the Driver Update Guide.
  2. The yellow exclamation mark clears automatically once Windows installs the required update. To ensure that you receive updates when they are available:
    1. Go to Windows Update, Advanced Options, then turn on Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available. After this setting is enabled, Windows automatically installs the update when it becomes available so no further action is required. If the yellow mark remains after a reboot, allow time for Windows Update to complete. Additional reboots are not necessary. DCSD retries the installation once every 24 hours.
Note: The yellow exclamation mark does not indicate a problem and does not affect the computer performance. This is an automatic re-install process that your computer updates automatically.
