Introduction: 
The PowerProtect DP Rapid Upgrade Checker utility validates all upgrade prechecks and shows us a consolidated status with remedy information for failed checks. The same remedy information can be used to resolve or mitigate those issues to make the appliance fit for Upgrade. The PowerProtect DP Rapid Upgrade Checker utility can also be used for postupgrade checks.

Supported Versions and Models: 
This utility supports PowerProtect DP series appliance 2.3.X, 2.4.X, 2.5.0, 2.6.X, 2.7.X versions. It covers all PowerProtect DP series appliance models with all upgrade scenarios.

Download Instructions:
  1. Go to the PowerProtect Data Protection Software download page in Dell Support.
  2. Sign in to the portal.
  3. Select the PowerProtect DP Rapid Upgrade Checker, and click Download.

Steps to run:

Note: Download the latest version of the utility from the support site (Product Downloads Page) and extract the "PowerProtect-DP-Rapid-Upgrade-ChecKer.zip" file. Provided examples are from version 2.7.2.0.
  1. Copy the PowerProtect-DP-Rapid-Upgrade-ChecKer-2.7.2.0.jar and the corresponding checksum PowerProtect-DP-Rapid-Upgrade-ChecKer-2.7.2.0.jar.sha256 file on the Appliance Configuration Manager VM in the /data01 folder. (You may copy it to any folder of your choice. In the steps mentioned here, we choose the /data01 folder).
  2. Connect to the ACM using SSH with root credentials and change the layout to full-screen mode.
  3. Change the directory to the /data01 folder.
  4. Verify the checksum for the downloaded file using the command:
    sha256sum -c PowerProtect-DP-Rapid-Upgrade-ChecKer-2.7.2.0.jar.sha256 
  5. The output of the above checksum command should be:
    PowerProtect-DP-Rapid-Upgrade-ChecKer-2.7.2.0.jar: OK
  6. Run the utility using the command:
     java -jar PowerProtect-DP-Rapid-Upgrade-ChecKer-2.7.2.0.jar
  7. To run the utility for a specific component, pass the component name. For example:
    java -jar PowerProtect-DP-Rapid-Upgrade-ChecKer-2.7.2.0.jar ACM
  8. To see all options, use the command: 
    java -jar PowerProtect-DP-Rapid-Upgrade-ChecKer-2.7.2.0.jar help

Note: This utility can be run post the upgrade as well to perform postupgrade checks. 

Note: If a person has difficulty seeing green, yellow, or red colors on a putty session. They can disable colors using the below steps:
  1. Right-click the Putty session and open the "Change Settings…" options.
  2. Select Windows -> Colors options and unselect "Allow terminal to specify ANSI colors".
  3. Click the Apply button to close this window.
