Instructions
How to collect SDDC Manager logs in VCF.
- Log in to the SDDC Manager with the account VCF
- Switch to root
- Run the command:
/opt/vmware/sddc-support/sos --sddc-manager-logs
Example:
root [ /nfs/vmware/vcf/nfs-mount/bundle/0e0b6d5b-6c6f-449f-bb1e-06a36727c012/manifest ]# /opt/vmware/sddc-support/sos --sddc-manager-logs Welcome to Supportability and Serviceability(SoS) utility! Performing SoS operation for MGMT domain components Logs : /var/log/vmware/vcf/sddc-support/sos-2020-05-11-10-51-45-3374 Log file : /var/log/vmware/vcf/sddc-support/sos-2020-05-11-10-51-45-3374/sos.log Log Collection completed successfully for : [VXRAILMANAGER, API-LOGS, VCF-SUMMARY] Operation failed for : [SDDC-MANAGER] For detailed report please refer : /var/log/vmware/vcf/sddc-support/sos-2020-05-11-10-51-45-3374/report.json
- Use WinSCP to go to the location below, and download the file
sos-2025-05-11-10-51-45-3374(this file name may be different based on the Date & time):
/var/log/vmware/vcf/sddc-support/
- The above command fails if there is an active workflow task running.
Example:
root@[ /var/log/vmware/vcf/domainmanager ]# /opt/vmware/sddc-support/sos --sddc-manager-logs Welcome to Supportability and Serviceability(SoS) utility! Found active workflow: XXXXX002 is ACTIVATING Please ensure there are no workflow runningduring SoS execution, executing SoS operations during running workflows may yield unexpected errors. Restart SoS operation after workflow completion or use --force flag to continue (--force not recommended).
- Run the command to generate the command forcefully:
/opt/vmware/sddc-support/sos --sddc-manager-logs --force
- Once the log collection is complete, use WinSCP to go to the SDDC Manager and to the path below. Download the logs.
/var/log/vmware/vcf/sddc-support/
