Touchpad Right Click Can Have an Intermittent Response on the Windows 11 Desktop

Symptoms

You may have intermittent or no response when right clicking the touchpad on the Windows 11 desktop with the following systems:

Affected Systems:

  • Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1 DB04250
  • Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1 DB04255
  • Dell 14 Plus DB14250
  • Dell 14 Plus DB14255
  • Dell 16 Plus 2-in-1 DB06250
  • Dell 16 Plus DB16250
  • Dell 16 Plus DB16255
Note: This issue refers to the Windows Desktop (the main workspace) and not a Dell Desktop computer.

Cause

This happens because clicking the touchpad area that is outside or on the edge of the touchpad right click area, and rapidly clicking the desktop (approximately 2-3 times per second.)


This is working as designed.

Resolution

When you click the touchpad area that is outside or on the edge of the touchpad right click area and rapidly click the desktop (approximately 2-3 times per second), it causes that right-click menu to not appear.


It is recommended that you click the suggested area of the right button, and click the interior zone of the right button for a better response. It is also recommended that you single click the right button (1 time/per second) if there is no response in Windows.
