Symptoms

The laptop does not enter Modern standby using the external keyboard, after you set the sleep action in Dell Peripheral Manager and then press the hotkey. 

Affected Keyboards:

  • Dell Pro Plus Keyboard KB700
  • Dell Pro Keyboard and Mouse KM5221W

Affected Platforms:

  • Inspiron 14 5441
  • Inspiron 14 Plus 7441
  • Latitude 5455
  • Latitude 7455

Cause

The laptop does not stay in the modern standby state because an Operating System notification triggers immediately after a keystroke is pressed.

Resolution

An update to the Dell Peripheral Manager application in November 2024 resolved this issue. Ensure that you have the most recent revision of the application installed on your laptop.
