Symptoms

When a user connects to Unisphere in Internet Explorer with a self-signed certificate on the CS, the following message is seen:

There is a problem with this website's security certificate.

The security certificate presented by this website was not issued by a trusted certificate authority.

Security certificate problems may indicate an attempt to fool you or intercept any data you send to the server.

We recommend that you close this webpage and do not continue to this website.

 

Cause

When a user tries to access using Unisphere, a Certificate Security Warning is received because the CS is using a Self-Signed Certificate.

 

Resolution

VNX/VNX2:

  1. Access the CS over SSH and display the certificate using the following command:

    nas_ca_certificate -display
  2. Copy the certificate information at the bottom between and including the lines that say BEGIN CERTIFICATE and END CERTIFICATE.

  3. Create a notepad document and paste certificate information.

  4. Save the notepad document with .sst extension.

  5. Import Certificate into Internet Explorer.

    • Go to Tools.
    • Click Internet Options.
    • Click the Content tab.
    • Click the Certificates button.
    • Click the Trusted Root Certification Authorities tab.
    • Click the Import button
    • Click Next button
    • Browse for the .sst file that was created.
    • Click Next button
    • Ensure that there is a dot in "Place all certificates in the following store"
    • Certificate store should show "Trusted Root Certification Authorities"
    • Click Next button
    • Click Finish button
    • Click Yes button on the Security Warning window
    • Click OK on The import was successful.
    • Click Close on the Certificates window
    • Click OK on Internet Options
  6. Close out of Internet Explorer then reopen and access CS again and the warning should not display.

  1. Open Unity array to login screen
  2. Click Certificate Error
  3. Click View certificates
  4. Click "Details" Tab
  5. Click Copy to File… Button
  6. Click Next Button
  7. Leave "DER encoded" selected
  8. Click Next Button
  9. Select Location and name
  10. Click Next Button
  11. Click Finish Button
  12. Click OK Button on "The export was successful." window
  13. Click OK Button on the Certificate window
  14. Click Settings
  15. Click Internet Options
  16. Click "Content" Tab
  17. Click Certificates Button
  18. Click "Trusted Root Certification Authorities" tab
  19. Click Import Button
  20. Click Next Button
  21. Browse to Certificate and Select
  22. Click Next Button
  23. Select "Place all certificates in the following store" (Trusted Root Certification Authorities)
  24. Click Next Button
  25. Click Finish Button
  26. Click Yes on Security Warning
  27. Click OK on "The import was successful." window
  28. Click Close Button
  29. Click OK Button
  30. Close Browser Window
  31. Reopen Browser to Unity array

  1. Open Unity array to login screen
  2. Click Not Secure
  3. Click "Invalid" under Certificate
  4. Click "Details" Tab
  5. Click Copy to File… Button
  6. Click Next Button
  7. Leave "DER encoded" selected
  8. Click Next Button
  9. Select Location and name
  10. Click Next Button
  11. Click Finish Button
  12. Click OK Button on "The export was successful." window
  13. Click OK Button on the Certificate window
  14. Click Chrome Menu Button (three vertical dots)
  15. Click Settings"
  16. Scroll Down and click Advanced
  17. Click Manage Certificates
  18. Click Import Button
  19. Click Next Button
  20. Browse to Certificate and Select
  21. Click Next Button
  22. Select "Place all certificates in the following store" (Trusted Root Certification Authorities)
  23. Click Next Button
  24. Click Finish Button
  25. Click Yes on Security Warning
  26. Click OK on "The import was successful." window
  27. Click Close Button
  28. Close Browser Window
  29. Reopen Browser to Unity array
