PowerEdge: OS to iDRAC Pass-through LOM Option with iDRAC Dedicated NIC Configured
Summary: Information about the OS to iDRAC Pass-through LOM Option with iDRAC Dedicated NIC Configured
Instructions
To access the iDRAC Web Interface from the host Operating System when OS to iDRAC "Pass-through configuration" is set to LOM, you will use the iDRAC Dedicated NIC IP address.
The "OS IP Address" configuration setting is utilized so the iDRAC can contact host operating system, and not configuration of the IP address to reach the iDRAC from the operating system, as this feature does not expose an additional network adapter as the USB NIC option does.
The LOM feature in the OS to iDRAC Pass-through can be configured when the iDRAC Dedicated NIC is configured for use. If in shared mode, this option cannot be configured.
When configuring this option via CLI or GUI, you must provide the IP address of the host operating system, then apply the configuration.
You can enable this channel using:
- iDRAC web interface
- RACADM or WSMan (post operating system environment)
- iDRAC Settings utility (pre-operating system environment)
Before enabling OS to iDRAC Pass-through, make sure that:
- The iDRAC is configured to use dedicated NIC or shared mode (that is, NIC selection is assigned to one of the LOMs).
- The Host operating system and iDRAC are in the same subnet and same VLAN.
- The Host operating system IP address is configured.
- A card that supports OS to iDRAC pass-through capability is installed.
- You have Configure privilege.
In dedicated mode, you must provide a valid IP address of the host operating system. If more than one LOM is active, enter the first LOM’s IP address.
